Introduction Letter

Hi my name is Alison Roy and I am currently a credential student at CSUSM. I grew up in Southern California, more specifically in the city of Dana Point. I went to Del Obispo Elementary School, Marco Forster Middle School, and Dana Hills High School. I graduated High School in 1998 and when I was about 19, I moved to San Diego, which is where I live now. I graduated from CSUSM in 2005 with a B.A. in Social Sciences and am in the process of getting my Multiple Subject/Special Education Credential and should be finished next June.
Just like pretty much everyone around my age, I grew up using the computer but I would have to say that I don't really have any formal instruction with technology. At home I use a PC and have never used a Mac with the exception of research class a few years ago. My computer knowledge is really basic and I only use it to check my email for the most part.
The first part of the CSUSM mission statement that comes to mind is the part about diversity because I really feel that learning about and celebrating diversity is such an important part of life. In all of my Undergraduate classes, in particular with Women's Studies, there was a such a huge emphasis on diversity and culture that really made me start to think about the world and our society in a much more critical way. It was because of my positive experiences as an Undergraduate that I decided to come back for the Credential Program.

I'm pretty good with computers, but only pc's. Mac's really intimidate me. I have a few of them at work, but never use them.

Hi Alison,

Nice to meet you! It is so funny to me that you attended elementary, middle and high school at three sites I work at nearly everyday!

I am so glad you are enrolled in the SpEd program here, as well. I think it is a really great program and I am so pleased to be an Education Specialist as well.

Best of luck,
Melissa

I'm like you, and have had no formal technology training. I really hope to learn to use some of this as a great teaching tool!
